Omni 9:16 and 16:9 cost the same: aspect ratio is not a price lever
Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 prices by seconds and resolution only. A vertical and a landscape clip of the same length cost the same on Sume. Table inside.

A 9:16 clip and a 16:9 clip of the same length and resolution cost the same on Gemini Omni Flash 1.1 on Sume. The catalog prices the model per second by resolution, and the only two aspect ratios it takes are 16:9 and 9:16. So a pair of ratio variants costs exactly double one clip.
Same price, both ratios
Eight seconds at each tier, for either ratio.
Sume rounds each clip up to the next whole cent, so a clip total is ceil(seconds x rate), not a sum of fractional cents.
| Resolution | 16:9 | 9:16 | Pair of both |
|---|---|---|---|
| 360p | $0.30 | $0.30 | $0.60 |
| 720p | $1.00 | $1.00 | $2.00 |
| 1080p | $1.50 | $1.50 | $3.00 |
| 4K | $3.00 | $3.00 | $6.00 |
What this means for a campaign
If you need a feed version and a story version of the same idea, there is no price reason to prefer one ratio over the other. The two clips are separate generations, so the vertical is not a crop of the landscape. Expect different framing, and write each prompt for its shape.
Doing both at 720p for 8 s is $2.00 per idea. For ten ideas that is $20.00, against $10.00 for one ratio. If one ratio is good enough, you save half.
What Omni will not do
Ratios other than 16:9 and 9:16 are not accepted, for example 1:1 or 4:3. In edit mode the ratio is not a field at all: the docs say there is no aspect_ratio or duration in an edit. For a ratio Omni does not offer, choose a model whose catalog row lists it, or crop in a later step.
Check supported_aspect_ratios in the video models response before you build a ratio picker.
The same length at every tier
For reference, a 6-second Omni Flash clip at each resolution. Every price is the seconds times the billable rate, rounded up to a whole cent, as of 2026-10-08.
| Resolution | Arithmetic | Billed |
|---|---|---|
| 360p | 6 x 3.75 = 22.5 cents | $0.23 |
| 720p | 6 x 12.5 = 75 cents | $0.75 |
| 1080p | 6 x 18.75 = 112.5 cents | $1.13 |
| 4K | 6 x 37.5 = 225 cents | $2.25 |
Limits to remember
These apply to every request on this page, from the Video Router and Video generation docs:
- Length is 3 to 10 whole seconds in generation modes; an edit takes no duration.
- Aspect ratio is 16:9 or 9:16; an edit takes no aspect ratio.
- Native synced audio is always on, and
generate_audio: falseis rejected. - There is no
bitrate_mode, no reference audio and noseed. - Billing is the provider list times 1.25 per output second, reserved at submit and shown in
usage.cost.
