Recut a Christmas clip into a New Year sale ad for $0.30

A Timeline render at $0.10 and a caption job at $0.20 turn a finished Christmas clip into a New Year sale cut. Three variants cost $0.90.

If you already have a Christmas clip, a New Year sale cut is a recut, not a new generation. A Timeline render is $0.10 per output minute and a caption job is $0.20, so one 15-second cut is $0.30 and three variants are $0.90.

What changes between the two ads

Keep the footage and change the story: a different first second using source_in, the sale line burned in as caption cues, and a different music bed.

Timeline render, under 1 min$0.10$0.10$0.30
Caption job with cues$0.20$0.20$0.60
Total$0.30$0.90

Steps

Import the clip to media.sume.com first, since Timeline accepts only media already there. Plan the cut for free, then render with an Idempotency-Key.

  • POST /v1/media-imports for the source
  • POST /v1/timeline-1.0/plan to check, unbilled
  • POST /v1/timeline-1.0/render with an Idempotency-Key
  • POST /v1/video-captions with cues for the offer line

Keep the sale line editable

Burn the offer in as caption cues rather than baking it into the generated frames. A date or percentage change is then a $0.20 re-run, not a new clip.

Dates

New Year's Eve is Thursday, Dec 31, 2026, which is 88 days from Oct 4. Cut the sale ad in the week of Dec 21.
