Nano Banana 2 thinking_level minimal or high: not on Sume

Google offers thinking_level minimal or high on the Nano Banana 2 variants. Sume's Image API has no such field, so sending it returns 400 unsupported_parameter.

Google's docs list a thinking_level setting with the values minimal and high on the Nano Banana 2 variants. Sume's Image API does not expose it. Because the catalog is the parameter allowlist, a request that sends thinking_level returns 400 unsupported_parameter instead of being ignored. Nano Banana 2 Lite is not in the Sume catalog either.

What Google says

This post confirms only that the setting exists and has two values. No latency or quality numbers are claimed.

How to confirm on Sume

Sume validates every request against the model's supported_parameters. A parameter not listed is rejected with 400 unsupported_parameter, never silently dropped. Run this call to see what google/nano-banana-2 accepts:

curl "https://api.sume.com/v1/images/models/google/nano-banana-2/endpoints" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY"

What to do instead

Look at supported_parameters in the answer. If thinking_level is absent, it is unsupported.

  • Put the constraints you want into the prompt: layout, text to render, rules.
  • Pick a model by its catalog row, for example google/nano-banana-2 or google/nano-banana-pro.
  • If thinking_level is essential, call the Google API directly.
