A monthly AI video budget calculator in Python using Sume rates
Plan a month of 480p drafts, 720p posts and audio clips: $97.70 on Sume. A short Python calculator with per-second rates and captions you can edit.

A monthly video budget is a sum of three numbers per line: seconds per clip, clips per month and rate per second. Everything else is a fixed price per job. Sume bills the per-second models at the provider list price times 1.25, so the inputs are on the vendor pages and the rate card.
The plan below is an assumption for illustration: 120 six-second drafts at Wan 3.0 480p, 30 ten-second posts at Wan 3.0 720p with captions, and 4 ten-second Kling 3 Pro clips with audio on and captions. Captions are $0.20 per job for videos up to 60 seconds.
The result
| Line | Rate per second | Clips | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Wan 3.0 480p drafts, 6 s | $0.0625 | 120 | $45.00 |
| Wan 3.0 720p posts, 10 s, captioned | $0.125 | 30 | $43.50 |
| Kling 3 Pro audio on, 10 s, captioned | $0.21 | 4 | $9.20 |
| Total | $97.70 |
The calculator
It uses Decimal, so the figures are exact. Change the plan list and rerun. The rates are for 2026-10-05; read the live values from the model catalog before you rely on them.
from decimal import Decimal
SUME = { # Sume USD per second (provider list x 1.25), read 2026-10-05
"wan-480p": Decimal("0.0625"),
"wan-720p": Decimal("0.125"),
"omni-720p": Decimal("0.125"),
"kling3pro-audio": Decimal("0.21"),
}
FIXED = {"captions": Decimal("0.20"), "music": Decimal("0.125")}
plan = [ # (model, seconds per clip, clips per month, captions per month)
("wan-480p", 6, 120, 0),
("wan-720p", 10, 30, 30),
("kling3pro-audio", 10, 4, 4),
]
total = Decimal(0)
for model, secs, clips, caps in plan:
cost = SUME[model] * secs * clips + FIXED["captions"] * caps
total += cost
print(f"{model}: {cost}")
print("month total:", total)
Using it
The 120 drafts cost $45.00 in total. The four Kling clips cost $9.20, so each captioned Kling clip costs as much as 6.1 drafts, which is the case for being deliberate with premium tiers.
Compare the total against your wallet. Top-ups are $10 to $1,000 per checkout; the billing and credits docs explain how the balance is read and how usage is recorded.
