Law firm video marketing with an AI avatar of the attorney

Law firm video marketing with AI: short attorney intro and practice-area clips from an avatar of the lawyer, what not to generate, how it's made and billed.

For law firm video marketing, the videos AI can make well are short clips of an attorney introducing the firm, explaining a practice area in general terms, or answering one common question, each under a minute and captioned. An AI avatar made from the attorney's own photo can deliver those scripts without a shoot, provided the attorney consents, the script is general information rather than advice, and nothing is generated that could pass for a real client, testimonial or case.

The Sume facts below come from the Generate avatar video, Create new avatar, Avatar video previews, Video captions and Timeline 1.0 docs and Sume's Terms of Service, read on 2026-09-29. Points marked as current behavior are read from Sume's code.

What videos should a law firm make?

Each of these is one script, so each is one clip you can post on your site, YouTube or social feeds:

  • Lawyer intro: who the attorney is, what the firm handles, and how to book a consultation.
  • Practice-area explainers: what a process such as probate or an uncontested divorce generally involves, step by step.
  • Common questions, one per clip: what to bring to a first meeting, how fees are usually discussed at your firm, what happens after someone calls.
  • Skip client testimonials, results, and dramatized accidents or courtrooms made with AI. Sume's terms say not to use it to mislead people about the origin or authenticity of generated media.
  • Before anything goes live, check your state bar's advertising rules. This post doesn't cover them.

Can a lawyer use an AI avatar of themselves?

Sume can create an avatar from a reference photo at a public HTTPS URL. The attorney in the photo has to agree: Sume's terms say you represent that you have permission to use any person's likeness or voice. The terms also say generated outputs should not be treated as professional advice and that you are responsible for reviewing outputs before publication, so the firm, not the tool, signs off each script and each render. Whether and how to label a clip as AI-made is a question for your bar's rules.

How do I make a lawyer intro video with AI?

Start with a preview. POST /v1/avatar-video-previews renders the first-frame still so you can approve the framing before spending a full Avatar Video generation; captions stored on the preview are applied when you call generate-video, and an optional quality there changes only the final render's tier. The script must come to 4 to 60 seconds by Sume's estimate, so a longer explainer becomes several clips joined in a Timeline render. Use 16:9 for the website and 9:16 for short-form feeds; 720p is the documented resolution. In current code the avatar speaks English only.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/avatar-video-previews \

How much does law firm video marketing with AI cost?

The avatar is a one-time cost and each clip is billed per second of video, from one prepaid balance.

From Generate avatar video, Create new avatar, Video captions, Timeline 1.0, the Sume API reference and the API pricing rate card, read 2026-09-29. Each rate is plus a 5.5% agent fee by default.
