Korean Black Friday captions: korean-ad style, $0.20 per clip
Burn Korean captions with style korean-ad or black-outline and language ko for $0.20 per clip up to 60 s. A Latin style with Hangul text returns 400.

To burn Korean captions onto a Black Friday clip on Sume, use style korean-ad or black-outline with language ko. Sume charges $0.20 per caption job for clips up to 60 seconds. If you send Hangul text to slam, punch or tiktok-green, the API returns 400 caption_hangul_text_latin_style.
Styles
From the Video captions docs, as of 2026-10-08.
| Style | Script | Result |
|---|---|---|
| slam, punch, tiktok-green | Latin | renders |
| slam, punch, tiktok-green | Hangul | 400 caption_hangul_text_latin_style |
| korean-ad | Hangul (language ko) | one short phrase at a time, lower third, spoken word turns heavy |
| black-outline | Hangul | default for Korean text when style omitted |
| Omitted | Latin | slam |
Cost for a batch
One caption job is $0.20 for a clip up to 60 seconds. A 12-clip Korean sale set is 12 x $0.20 = $2.40. If you want a second look for each clip, the source_caption_id option restyles an existing caption without re-transcribing.
- Silent clips: send cues instead of relying on speech.
- language never selects the style or font; select them separately.
- Font is optional and only for Hangul styles.
Setup advice
Omit style when the language is mixed and let the text decide, or set it explicitly so a template cannot pick the wrong face. Because a wrong style fails instead of silently swapping fonts, a bulk run will surface the mistake on the first item.
Workflow
For a sale video with Korean speech, transcribe once, burn the captions, and keep the caption id. If the marketing team later wants a different look, restyle from that id and pay for the burn only, without re-transcribing. Speech-to-text is $0.01 per minute, so a 30-second clip's transcription costs half a cent.
For videos without speech, send cues, which are timed lines you provide yourself.
- Korean speech: language ko, style korean-ad or black-outline.
- Silent clip: cues.
- Restyle: source_caption_id.
Before you scale
Check the output on a phone before you publish. Hangul karaoke captions in the lower third can collide with platform interface elements, and the design override can move placement. Test one clip, adjust the design for the whole batch, and then run the rest. The overrides change colors, typography, placement, phrasing and motion for a single request without altering the named style.
