Korea AI Basic Act: 30M won fine and a Korean-ad label
A secondary source says Korea's AI Basic Act grace period runs to Jan 2027 with fines up to KRW 30M. How to burn an authored Korean notice with Sume captions.

A secondary source says Korea's AI Basic Act has a grace period through January 2027 and fines of up to KRW 30 million. Sume's korean-ad caption style is a look for Korean speech, not a legal label; if you need an on-screen AI notice, burn it as authored overlay text, in a Hangul style, and confirm the wording with counsel.
What the source reports
This is a secondary summary, not the statute text. Read the Act and its enforcement decree, and ask a Korean lawyer, before relying on it.
| Item | Reported |
|---|---|
| Grace period | Through January 2027 |
| Maximum fine | KRW 30 million |
What korean-ad is, and is not
korean-ad is a CapCut-style Hangul karaoke caption: one short phrase at a time in the lower third, with the spoken word shifting to a heavy weight. Pair it with language: "ko". It styles speech that is actually in the video.
It does not insert a disclosure, and Sume docs do not describe it as one. Sume's caption docs also say that Korean text sent to the Latin styles slam, punch or tiktok-green is rejected with caption_hangul_text_latin_style, so use a Hangul style for Korean copy.
Burn an authored notice
Standalone video captions accept cues or segments with text, start and end, which burn authored overlay copy without speech-to-text. That is the mechanism for a fixed on-screen line. The notice text below is a placeholder; use the wording your legal advisers approve.
Check the burned result on a device before you publish, and keep the job id with your records.
