Kling 4.0 release date: early access Sept 28, full launch in October
Kling says Kling 4.0 early access began 2026-09-28 and the full launch is due in October 2026. What is confirmed, what is open, and how to prepare a pipeline.

Kling 4.0 entered early access on 2026-09-28, and Kling's own page says the full model launch comes in October 2026. The page gives no launch day, so treat any exact date you see elsewhere as unconfirmed. Sume's catalog does not list a Kling 4.0 id yet. The Kling id you can pin today is kling-3, so build on that and plan to swap the id when a new row appears.
This post separates what Kling has stated from what is still open, then lists what to prepare. Kling facts come from its Kling 4.0 page, read on 2026-10-02. Sume facts come from the video generation docs and the catalog code on main.
What has Kling said about Kling 4.0?
The table lists the items on Kling's page. Where the page says a feature is coming soon, the table says so, and it should not be read as shipped.

Does Sume list Kling 4.0 yet?
Not on the main branch as of this read. The Kling row in the Sume catalog is kling-3, named Kling Video v3 Pro. It takes text-to-video, image-to-video and start/end frames, runs 4 to 15 seconds at 720p or 1080p in 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1, always has an audio option, and accepts no reference images, videos or audio.
So a 30-second Kling 4.0 clip, a 21:9 frame or 4K output are not something kling-3 can stand in for. When a Kling 4.0 row is added, GET /v1/videos/models will show its own durations, resolutions, aspect ratios and price, and that response is the source of truth, not this post.
What should you prepare before launch week?
Most of the work is keeping the swap cheap:
- Keep the model id in config, not in code, so a new id is a one-line change.
- Save five prompts and their current
kling-3outputs now. After launch, run the same five and compare the clips yourself. - List the limits that change: 30 seconds instead of 15, 21:9 next to the three ratios
kling-3offers, and reference inputs thatkling-3does not take. - Do not budget a Kling 4.0 per-second number yet. Sume has no price row for it, and Sume bills the provider list price times 1.25 on every video model once a row exists.
Where will the Sume row appear first?
Check the /v1/videos/models response and the Video Router catalog. The docs page for each model family is updated when a row ships. Until then, if your brief needs a long single take, the catalog already lists 30-second models from other vendors; the related posts below compare them.
