What Meta is testing

TechCrunch reported on June 2, 2026 that Meta is testing Series for Reels on Instagram and Facebook. It is limited to select creators who already share serialized content. New and existing Reels can become episodes with a dedicated profile hub, and viewers can save a series and get updates on new episodes. Meta is considering monetization but gave no specifics (TechCrunch, read 2026-10-05).

A series rewards a recurring face. One Sume avatar handle gives you that: same avatar, new script per episode.

Ten 30 s episodes, one avatar, no product image (rates from Sume fixed price SKUs)
TierPer secondPer episodeTen episodes
standard$0.184$5.52$55.20
plus (default)$0.245$7.35$73.50
max$0.55$16.50$165.00

Keep the series consistent

Create the avatar once ($0.95) and pass the same avatar_handle in every episode request. Keep aspect_ratio at 9:16, the default, so each Reel fills the screen. A 30 s episode sits inside the 4 to 60 s window Sume accepts for one job.

Use one Idempotency-Key per episode, such as series-ep-01, so a retry after a timeout does not create and bill a second clip. Sume replies 429 queue_full when the workspace has used its accepted capacity; retry with the same key once capacity opens.

Review before you post

  • Run episode 1 at standard first; switch to plus when the script and look are right.
  • Check each finished MP4 before posting, since Series is a test and Meta may change how episodes work.
  • Add the platform's own AI label where it applies to realistic synthetic people.
