Meta's ads guide says an Instagram Reels ad can run from 0 seconds to 15 minutes, as an MP4 or MOV up to 4 GB. The minimum width is 250 pixels for ads under 30 seconds and 500 pixels for ads of 30 seconds or longer.

These figures are from the Instagram Reels ad specs page, read 2026-10-02.

The numbers on the page

The page also lists 9:16 at 1440 x 2560, H.264 with progressive scan, and stereo AAC at 128 kbps or higher.

Where Sume's limits line up

Sume's video trim caps its output at 900 seconds, which is exactly 15 minutes. A cut at the top of Meta's range is possible, though few Reels ads should be that long.

The trim output object accepts width and height from 256 to 2160, and fps of 24, 25, 30 or 60. That clears the minimum widths easily. It cannot produce 2560 pixels on the long edge, because 2160 is the documented ceiling. Timeline 1.0 also defaults to 1080 x 1920. The page lists 1440 x 2560 as the resolution, but it states minimums for width, so a 1080 x 1920 file is not below any minimum it gives. Upload and look at the preview in Ads Manager.

Check before you upload

Run through these before the file goes into Ads Manager.

  • Length: under 15 minutes. Trim output is capped at 900 seconds, so this holds for anything Sume trims.
  • Width: at least 500 px when the ad is 30 seconds or longer.
  • Audio: the page asks for stereo AAC at 128 kbps or higher. Probe the file with video inspect to see its audio facts.
  • Safe zones: keep 14% at the top, 35% at the bottom and 6% on each side clear of text and logos, as the page says.

Limit of this post

Sume makes the video file. It does not upload to Ads Manager or tell you whether Meta will approve the ad.
