Instacart's shoppable video guidelines ask for a 16:9 video, MP4 or MOV, between 3 and 30 seconds, at most 500 MB and at least 15 fps. Send aspect_ratio: "16:9" and a duration from 4 to 30 to seedance-2.5 on POST /v1/videos, then check the delivered file yourself before you upload it.

Instacart facts are from its Ads Manager page (updated August 12, 2026, read 2026-10-01). Sume facts are from the Videos API and Video inspect docs.

What does Instacart require for the video?

How do I request the clip?

The call is asynchronous: it returns a job id and a polling URL, and the finished file arrives in unsigned_urls on GET /v1/videos/{id}. A 3-second ad is below the 4-second floor of seedance-2.5, so ask for 4 seconds or more and trim later if you need exactly 3.

curl -X POST "https://api.sume.com/v1/videos" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
    "model": "seedance-2.5",
    "prompt": "Glass jar of tomato sauce on a kitchen counter, slow push-in, soft daylight",
    "aspect_ratio": "16:9",
    "resolution": "720p",
    "duration": 8
  }'

How do I check the file before upload?

Import the clip with POST /v1/media-imports, then call POST /v1/video-inspect with frames: false for a probe only. Inspect is unbilled and its probe carries the facts about the file, so compare them with the table above. If the clip is longer than 30 seconds, POST /v1/video-trim cuts it with a start and a duration.

Confirm the current rules on Instacart's page before you submit. For other cutdowns see cut a product video into feed cutdowns.
