What does 1,000 images cost?

Ideogram 4.5 per image and per 1,000 (fal list read 2026-10-09; Sume = list x 1.25)
Qualityfal per imageSume per imagefal per 1,000Sume per 1,000
Low$0.03$0.0375$30$37.50
Medium (default)$0.06$0.0750$60$75.00
High$0.22$0.2750$220$275.00

Does the resolution setting change the price?

Not on fal's page: it states size adjustments do not affect price. The Image API docs list resolution: 1K|2K for Ideogram 4.5, so pick 2K when you need the pixels without expecting a higher rate. Run one image first if the catalog row changes.

Is high ever worth 7x low?

High is $0.275 against $0.0375: 7.3 times. The tiers are priced for different jobs, so test low and medium on your text-heavy layout first. A 50-image brief at medium is $3.75 on Sume; the same brief at high is $13.75.

What about edits?

With reference images Ideogram 4.5 edits the first image and uses up to four more as references, per the Image API docs. The fal quality prices are stated for the model overall; confirm the charge on a single edit first.

How do I budget a campaign?

Count the images you will keep, not the ones you generate. If you keep 100 images and need an average of three tries each at medium, you pay for 300: $22.50 on Sume. At low it is $11.25, at high $82.50.

A practical split is to explore at low, then regenerate the keepers at medium or high. Ten explorations at low plus one final at high is $0.650 per finished image.

For scale, a 20-image set of social tiles is $0.75 at low, $1.50 at medium and $5.50 at high on Sume. Because fal says size does not change the price, a 1K and a 2K image cost the same at a given quality. That makes 2K a cheap upgrade when the layout needs it, as long as the catalog row keeps that rule. Compare the output at each quality before you commit a large set to the highest one.
