Choose a Sume video model in five questions
Five questions pick a Sume video model: length, resolution, source media, audio toggle and price. One dated table maps each answer to model ids.

Answer five questions in order and the Sume video catalog narrows to one or two ids: how long is the clip, what resolution do you need, what source media do you have, do you need to switch audio off, and what can you pay per clip. If the answers are 3 to 10 seconds with no other requirement, send sume/auto.
1. How long
Length is the hardest filter. Omni takes 3 to 10 seconds, Seedance 2, fast and mini 4 to 15, Kling 3 4 to 15, H3 and H3 Max 5 to 15, and Wan 3.0 and Seedance 2.5 reach 30 (Wan from 2). Anything above 15 leaves only those two.
2 to 5 in one table
The rows below are read from the Video Router docs; prices are billable per second at the lowest and a high tier, or per token for Seedance.
| Question | Answer | Ids that fit |
|---|---|---|
| Length | Over 15 seconds | wan-3.0, seedance-2.5 |
| Length | Under 4 seconds | wan-3.0 (from 2 s), gemini-omni-flash-1.1 (from 3 s) |
| Resolution | 4K | gemini-omni-flash-1.1 |
| Resolution | 1080p | wan-3.0, minimax-h3-max, gemini-omni-flash-1.1, kling-3, seedance-2, seedance-2.5 |
| Source | Start from text only | Not kling-3, grok-imagine-video-1.5, recast, genjutsu |
| Source | Existing video, change the people | h3-max-recast |
| Source | Existing video, edit | gemini-omni-flash-1.1 (Video Router video_url) |
| Audio | Must be able to turn off | kling-3 ($0.14 per second silent) |
| Price | Cheapest per second | minimax-h3 / wan-3.0 / minimax-h3-max at 480p, $0.0625; gemini-omni-flash-1.1 360p, $0.0375 |
Using it
Work down the table and stop at the first row that leaves one id. If two remain, take the cheaper at the tier you need; the price rankings are in another post. Then read the catalog row for that id, which the pre-flight check post explains.
When the catalog changes
New ids land and others are retired. Pin an id only when you need its specific behavior; otherwise use sume/auto and let Sume carry the default. Veo 3.1 and Happy Horse are not in the Sume catalog, so a request for them returns 404 for an unknown model.

- Ideogram 4.5 21:9 returns 400 on Sume: use 2:1 at 2K and crop
21:9 is not an Ideogram 4.5 ratio on Sume and returns 400 with the supported list. Ask 2:1 at 2K (2880x1440), then crop to 2560x1080 and lose 225 px of height.
- Ideogram 4.5 edit keeps the source shape when aspect_ratio is omitted
An Ideogram 4.5 edit on Sume keeps the source shape without aspect_ratio; other edit models need auto. Which ids list auto, and the 400 if they do not.
- Ideogram 4.5 edit with resolution 2K and no ratio: still source size
On Sume, an Ideogram 4.5 edit with resolution 2K but no aspect_ratio keeps the source size. Add a ratio to get 2K pixels, such as 2560x1440 for 16:9.

On Sume, an Ideogram 4.5 pixel size such as 1080x1350 or 2400x1000 is snapped to the nearest of 15 native ratios: 4:5 and 2:1. Table of seven common sizes.
