Soul vs Seedream 5.0 Lite for 100 concept frames on Sume
100 concept frames: Soul bills $0.50 at 720p in 25 calls of four; Seedream 5.0 Lite bills $4.375 and can edit a reference. Ratios, limits and when each fits.

For 100 concept frames, Higgsfield Soul bills $0.50 at 720p ($0.005 each), sent as 25 calls of four images. Seedream 5.0 Lite bills $4.375 ($0.04375 each), and unlike Soul it can start from a reference image. The 8.75-fold price gap buys edit support, a 4:5 ratio and a larger ceiling; it does not buy anything you need if the frames are throwaway text-to-image drafts.
The prices are Sume's list-times-1.25 figures from the repo's price tables on origin/main. fal's Seedream 5.0 Lite page (read 2026-10-08) lists $0.035 per image, which is the list rate before Sume's multiple.

Soul's list price is not a published tariff: it is Higgsfield's authenticated estimate for the Sume account, read 2026-09-17 at $0.004 for 720p and $0.006 for 1080p. Read the live endpoint line before you commit to a large batch.

When Soul is enough
Mood boards, first-pass compositions and lookbooks where you will throw away most frames. Ask for four at a time, since Soul's batch size must be 1 or 4 and the provider code refuses any other count (a request for 2 or 3 does not work). Stay inside its seven ratios, and note it has no 4:5, so an Instagram portrait frame needs a crop.
At 720p the cost of a full 100-frame pass is lower than one Seedream 5.0 Lite batch of twelve.
When to pay for Seedream
You have a product photo or a character sheet to hold fixed, you need a 4:5 or 5:4 frame, or you want webp output. Seedream 5.0 Lite lists up to 10 references on Sume. The fal page lists a ceiling of 9 megapixels and batches of 1 to 6 images; Sume's range for the row is 1 to 4, so plan batches of four.
A common split: draft every frame on Soul, then redo the five or ten you keep on Seedream with a reference. That run costs $0.50 plus about $0.44, under $1 for the whole set.
Keep the two phases separate in code. The draft phase writes only URLs and prompts to a list. The final phase reads the keepers from that list, adds the reference, and calls the other row. That way a change in either model does not touch the other half of the pipeline, and you can swap Soul for another cheap row without editing the final step.
