Google's Local Services Ads business photos must be JPEG, PNG, BMP or ICO, at least 640 x 640 pixels, up to 10 MB each, and you can upload up to 100 images per account. They cannot show phone numbers, email or street addresses, competing watermarks, screenshots or duplicates. Headshots for law, real estate and finance are square, 500 x 500 or more, head and shoulders, on a neutral background.

The numbers come from Google's Local Services Help page, read on 2026-10-02. It does not mention AI-generated images, so keep this set to real photos of your real work and use Sume for adjacent assets.

What are the photo limits and exclusions?

The page separates business photos from headshots. The exclusions are the part that rejects most uploads.

How should a plumber, a locksmith or a realtor use this?

Because phone numbers, emails and addresses are prohibited in the image, check every frame for a number on a van door, a shirt or a sign before you upload, and shoot those angles differently. A blurred or duplicate image is also grounds for rejection, so cull before you upload.

Headshots for law, real estate and finance are 1:1, head and shoulders, on a neutral background with no text overlay. Use a real photo of a real person, not a generated one.

Where Sume helps a local service business

Two places stay outside the LSA photo set: social posts and your own site. Sume's Image API can turn one real job photo into a clean 4:5 or 1:1 social card with room for text, using input_references and aspect_ratio. Calls that run long return a 202 job envelope, and you read the result from the job endpoints.

Keep the facts straight in every generated asset: do not change the work shown, the materials, or the result. Review each image against the original before posting.
