As of October 7, 2026 Google has listed no shutdown date for gemini-nano-banana-2.1, gemini-3.1-flash-image, gemini-3.1-flash-lite-image or gemini-3-pro-image. The ids already past their date are the three Imagen 4 models (August 17), gemini-3.1-flash-image-preview and gemini-3-pro-image-preview (June 25). gemini-2.5-flash-image has two dates, from two pages.

Image ids, newest first

Every row comes from the deprecations page. Google adds that a listed date is the earliest possible shutdown.

What the table means

  • Nothing in the Nano Banana row set is scheduled to stop, but the move off gemini-3.1-flash-image has started.
  • Imagen 4 is the id family most likely to break a long-running script, because its shutdown date has passed.
  • Rows with a date in the past can still appear in old tutorials. Ignore the id and look up the replacement.

Where Sume stands

Sume's image catalog is its own list. The Google-branded rows in the repo are google/nano-banana-2.1, google/nano-banana-pro, and Imagen 4 entries, and google/nano-banana-2 is mapped to 2.1. Check GET /v1/images/models before you assume an Imagen id is callable, since Google's date for it has passed.
