Gemini Omni Flash GA on Aug 27: extension, interpolation, 4K on Sume

The August 27, 2026 general availability of gemini-omni-1.1-flash added three things on the Gemini API: video extension, interpolation between images, and resolution control at 360p, 720p (default), 1080p and 4k. On Sume, two of the three are available: interpolation through first and last frames, and resolution. Extension is not exposed.

What GA added and what Sume exposes

The left column is the Google changelog entry. The right column is what the Sume Video and Video Router docs state for gemini-omni-flash-1.1.

What the resolution control costs on Sume

Sume's per-second rates are a fal list price times 1.25. For a 10 second clip the arithmetic is 10 x rate.

Sume gemini-omni-flash-1.1 rates (fal list $0.03, $0.10, $0.15, $0.30 times 1.25), read 2026-10-05
ResolutionSume per second10 second clip
360p$0.0375$0.375
720p (default)$0.125$1.25
1080p$0.1875$1.875
4K$0.375$3.75

How to use interpolation and edit

Sume rounds the billable amount up to cents, so the 10 second 1080p row bills about $1.88.

Interpolation on Sume is image-to-video with an end image: send the first frame and the last frame, and the model fills the shot between them. Edit is a separate mode: send video_url to the Video Router with a prompt, and the source clip sets the output length. A duration on an edit request is only a reserve hint, with a default of 8 seconds.

A substitute for extension

Chain clips by hand until extension is exposed. Take the last frame of clip A, send it as first_frame for clip B, and cut the two together. Keep the prompt of clip B close to the end of clip A so the motion matches.
