ElevenLabs MCP server is now hosted: what Sume's MCP offers
ElevenLabs deprecated its local MCP server for a hosted one with OAuth. Sume's hosted MCP at mcp.sume.com/mcp has music, TTS and STT tools. Setup compared.

On August 22, 2026 ElevenLabs deprecated its local MCP server and MCP player in favor of a hosted server at https://api.elevenlabs.io/v1/mcp. If you want the same remote shape for audio on Sume, connect an MCP client to https://mcp.sume.com/mcp and use music_create, tts_create and stt_create.
The ElevenLabs facts are from its changelog; the Sume facts are from MCP quickstart, MCP OAuth and API keys and MCP tools and gates, all read 2026-10-01.
What changed in the ElevenLabs MCP server?
The changelog says both repositories are archived and will no longer receive updates. The hosted server signs in with your ElevenLabs account through OAuth and, per the entry, requires no local installation or API key. It lists setup instructions for Claude, Cursor and other MCP clients.
What does Sume's hosted MCP use for sign-in?
Sume's hosted MCP accepts either an OAuth access token or a Sume API key, and the docs say they are not interchangeable. OAuth always grants mcp:read; the consent screen has a Write toggle that adds mcp:write. There is no mcp:paid scope. An API key unlocks the full hosted tool set, and spend is governed by the wallet.

The tools doc lists music, speech and transcription as paid tools that need an idempotency_key. Routing defaults to sume/auto unless the user names a family.
| Tool | What it does | Needs |
|---|---|---|
music_create | Music generation | idempotency_key |
tts_create | Text to speech | idempotency_key |
stt_create | Speech to text | idempotency_key |
timeline_audio | Concat or split Sume-hosted audio | idempotency_key, then jobs_wait and jobs_result |
How do long audio jobs behave over MCP?
A tool call returns a job, not a file. Follow it with jobs_wait and jobs_result, as in the audio detach flow. Do not paste signed URLs or keys into chat.
