Yes, H3 has an API. MiniMax's open-source post lists three Open Platform endpoints: video-generation-v2-create, video-generation-h3-context-ir and video-generation-regeneration. On Sume you call minimax-h3 or minimax-h3-max through POST /v1/videos, and the job is async.

The MiniMax side

The H3 post also lists variants H3-Base-FL2VA, H3-Base-Ref2VA and H3-Regenerate-2K, 24 fps video, 32 kHz stereo, and the MiniMax H3 Community License for the open weights. The 2K variant is not open-sourced. The post does not give dollar prices.

The Sume side

How the request flows

Submit with model: minimax-h3, a prompt and optional frame_images or input_references. You get a job id and polling URL with status pending, poll until completed, then download from unsigned_urls[0]. A webhook is available via an HTTPS callback_url. Sume does not expose MiniMax's separate context-ir or regeneration endpoints as named routes.

When to call MiniMax directly

If you need the regeneration endpoint, the 2K variant by name or to self-host the open weights, use MiniMax. If you want H3 next to Wan, Seedance and Kling on one bill, use Sume.

Cost of a first test

The cheapest MiniMax H3 job on Sume is 5 seconds at 480p: 5 x $0.0625, or $0.3125. A 10-second 768p clip on minimax-h3 is $0.75. On minimax-h3-max, 10 seconds at 1080p is $2.00. These are list-times-1.25 sums from the table, not quotes; the finished job reports its cost in usage.cost.
