The Sume file job
Send a public HTTPS audio_url; get back text and word timings. The job is billed from the duration_seconds hint (1 to 600, default one minute).
import os, requests
r = requests.post(
"https://api.sume.com/v1/stt-1.0/transcribe",
headers={"Authorization": f"Bearer {os.environ['SUME_API_KEY']}",
"Idempotency-Key": "stt-demo-001"},
json={"audio_url": "https://example.com/call.mp3",
"language_code": "en",
"duration_seconds": 300},
)
print(r.status_code, r.json())Which one
For live audio, Deepgram's streaming rates are cheaper and are built for that use. For recordings that feed Sume captions or dubbing steps, Sume STT keeps the transcript in one place. The page does not say how long the current price lasts, so read it again before you budget.
Worked example
Here is what 100 hours of streaming costs at each listed rate.
- Nova-3 monolingual current: 6,000 minutes at $0.0048 is $28.80.
- Nova-3 monolingual regular: 6,000 minutes at $0.0077 is $46.20.
- Sume STT for the same hours of recordings: $60.00.
Checklist before you commit
The page does not state how long the current price lasts. Treat the regular price as the safe budget figure.
- Decide streaming or file.
- Check which languages are on the multilingual rate.
- Note the $200 free credit for tests.
