Captions app credits cost about 5 cents each on every paid plan

Captions' Max is $24.99 for 500 credits, Frontier 4x $279.99 for 5,600: about $0.05 a credit. Sume's standalone captions are a flat $0.20 per clip.

Captions' pricing page shows Max at $24.99 a month for 500 credits, Frontier 1x at $69.99 for 1,400 and Frontier 4x at $279.99 for 5,600. Each works out to roughly $0.05 a credit. The page text I read does not say how many credits a caption job or a generated video uses, so I cannot give you a price per clip. On Sume, a standalone caption job is a flat $0.20 for a video of up to 60 seconds.

The ladder

Prices are as shown on the page. The per-credit figures are my division.

Captions plans and implied price per credit (page read 2026-10-07)
PlanPrice a monthCredits a monthPer credit
Max$24.99500$0.0500
Frontier 1x$69.991,400$0.0500
Frontier 4x$279.995,600$0.0500

What that says

There is no volume discount in credit price across those three tiers, and larger plans buy more credits, not cheaper ones. If you use the credits fully, the choice among them is about capacity. If you leave credits unused, the effective price rises.

The page also notes the free tier has no credits and offers captions in 100+ languages. I did not read a limit on video length.

The Sume side

The video captions guide says each accepted standalone caption job reserves and captures $0.20, for videos of up to 60 seconds, under the current fixed estimate, and points to GET /v1/catalog for the live price. 4 credits at 5 cents would be the same $0.20, though the two are not equivalent products.

For an avatar video you can turn on inline captions at creation. The avatar guide says that does not create a separate billed caption job, and a failure in the caption stage is a soft failure: the avatar job can still succeed with a clean video. Sume's inline captions reject an estimated duration above 60 seconds.

A fair comparison

Ask Captions how many credits a caption pass or an AI edit uses, then multiply by $0.05. If it is four credits or fewer, the two prices are in the same range. If a feature uses hundreds of credits, it is a different product with a different job.
