CapCut captions API: black-outline and korean-ad styles
CapCut has no captions API in the pages we read. Sume's POST /v1/video-captions burns a white-on-black-outline look with style black-outline.

The CapCut pages I read describe auto captions as an app feature, not an API, so there is nothing to call there. If you want a similar look from code, Sume's POST /v1/video-captions burns captions onto a video URL, and its docs describe black-outline as "CapCut white fill on a thick black outline, mid-frame."
CapCut's Standard vs Pro page says the auto caption generator is exclusive to Pro users. Sume details are from Video captions, read 2026-09-30. It is a similar look by style name, not CapCut's own renderer.
Which style name gives which look?
Omit style and the wording decides: slam for Latin text, black-outline for Korean. Or name one explicitly.
| Style | Look per the docs | Default face |
|---|---|---|
black-outline | CapCut white fill on a thick black outline, mid-frame. The safe default for Hangul | Do Hyeon |
korean-ad | CapCut-style Hangul karaoke: one short phrase at a time, lower-third, spoken word shifts to a heavy weight. Pair with language: "ko" | Pretendard |
slam, punch, tiktok-green | Latin display looks. Korean copy on them returns 400 | Latin display faces |
How do I call it?
Send video_url with an Idempotency-Key. Speech-to-text runs when you omit script_text, and a silent clip fails as caption_no_speech unless you pass authored cues.
curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/video-captions \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-H "Idempotency-Key: caption-outline-001" \
-d '{
"video_url": "https://media.sume.com/artifacts/example/clean.mp4",
"style": "black-outline",
"language": "ko"
}'Can I get the CapCut classic font?
The font field takes Hangul faces for Hangul styles. do-hyeon is described as "Thick rounded, the CapCut classic", and it is the default face for black-outline and clip-wipe. font on a Latin style returns caption_font_requires_hangul_style. For Latin captions in a different look, see Hormozi-style captions.
What does a caption job cost?
The docs say each accepted standalone caption job reserves and captures $0.20 USD for videos up to 60 seconds under the current fixed estimate, and tell you to confirm live pricing in GET /v1/catalog and OpenAPI. Colors, placement and phrasing can be adjusted per request with design, except on punch and tiktok-green.

- caption_no_speech: caption a silent clip with cues
caption_no_speech means the clip has no audible speech. Sume's fix is next_action use_overlay_captions: send cues with text, start and end and skip ASR.
