Cancellation save video with an AI avatar: one 30-second clip, one ask
A cancellation-save clip should be 30 seconds and make one offer. At Plus it costs $7.35 to render; send it only to accounts where a human would also reach out.
A cancellation-save video should run about 30 seconds and make one offer, because the person has already decided to leave and will not watch more. A Sume avatar render of 30 seconds with no product image costs $5.52 at Standard, $7.35 at Plus, or $16.50 at Max, so use it only where a person would also follow up.
What the clip is for
People cancel for a handful of reasons: price, unused features, a missing feature, a bad support experience, or a change in need. One generic clip cannot answer all of them. The better design is one short clip for each reason that you can detect from the cancellation form, each with a single response: a discount or pause for price, a quick setup call for unused features, a roadmap pointer for a missing feature.
| Stated reason | One offer in the clip | Plus cost |
|---|---|---|
| Too expensive | Pause the plan or a smaller tier | $7.35 |
| Not using it | Free setup session | $7.35 |
| Missing a feature | Link to the request page | $7.35 |
| Support problem | Named person will call | $7.35 |
Script pattern
Name the reason in the first sentence, so the viewer sees it is about them. Make the offer in the second. Give one next step in the third, and stop. Stay near 70 words. Never imply the person is not allowed to cancel, never hide the cancel button, and do not repeat the clip after they leave.
Render a preview first so a person on the team approves the exact words and the first frame. A pre-rendered clip is a fixed asset: it does not know the customer's name or plan, so mention neither unless you render one per account.
import json
REASONS = {
"price": "If cost is the reason, you can pause your plan for up to three months and keep your work. Choose Pause on the next screen.",
"unused": "If you are not using it, let us set it up with you for free. Choose Book a session on the next screen.",
}
for key, text in REASONS.items():
print(json.dumps({"avatar_handle": "cs_host", "quality": "plus",
"aspect_ratio": "16:9", "script": text}))Cautions
- Only promise offers that exist; the script above is an example, not a policy.
- Label the presenter as an AI avatar.
- Measure saves against a control group that sees no clip, since people who open a clip may stay anyway.
- Respect consumer rules on cancellation in your region, which vary, and keep the cancel path obvious.
Limits
A clip is a poor fit for a high-value account, where a call from a person is the right response. Use video for the self-serve tail, and send the large accounts to your team.
