audio_detach_range_empty and detach_start_past_source: what they mean
audio_detach_range_empty: range.end is not after start, or span over 900 s. detach_start_past_source: start is past the source length.

audio_detach_range_empty means range.end is less than or equal to range.start, or the range is longer than 900 seconds. detach_start_past_source means range.start is beyond the probed length of the video. Fix the numbers and send the request again.
The three range-related refusals
Audio detach caps the source at 1,800 seconds and the output at 900 seconds. The first check happens when the request is admitted; the second is raised by the worker once it has probed the file.
| Code | Trigger | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| audio_detach_range_empty | end at or before start, or range over 900 s | Make end greater than start and keep the span within 900 s |
| detach_start_past_source | start beyond probed duration | Probe the video and clamp start |
| detach_source_has_no_audio | Source has no audio track | Check probe.has_audio first |
Cutting a long track
A whole track longer than 900 seconds needs a range. For a 25-minute video, request 0 to 900 and then 900 to the end, as two jobs at $0.01 each. Leave end out to mean the rest of the file, but only if the remainder is no more than 900 seconds.
Avoiding the past-source error
Run video inspect with frames off to read the duration and probe.has_audio before you plan ranges. Clamp every start to the duration minus a small margin. The 900-second cap post walks through a 30-minute example.
