Amazon Stores background video: 2 to 20 seconds, silent autoplay
Amazon Stores background video runs 2 to 20 seconds as MP4 H.264, autoplays silent and replays. Trim, drop audio and check the probe with Sume.

An Amazon Stores background video tile must be 2 to 20 seconds long, an MP4 with the H.264 codec, at least 1,280 x 640 px. It autoplays and replays silently while it is on screen. That is the spec on Amazon's Stores creative guidelines page (read 2026-10-11). It is a different tile from the click-to-play video tile, so a clip prepared for one is not automatically right for the other.
What are the background video limits per tile size?
The page gives a maximum height for each tile size and an aspect ratio range.
- Length: 2 to 20 seconds for every size.
- Format: MP4, H.264 video codec.
- Playback: autoplay and auto-replay on silent while visible.
| Tile | Min resolution | Max height | Aspect ratio |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full Width | 1,280 x 640 px | 1,500 px | 6:4 to 8:3 |
| Large | 1,280 x 640 px | 640 px | 3:4 to 8:3 |
| Medium | 1,280 x 640 px | 320 px | 6:4 to 8:3 |
Is the Medium row correct?
Read literally, the Medium row asks for at least 1,280 x 640 px and also a maximum height of 320 px, which cannot both hold. I did not find a way to resolve this from the pages I read. Treat Medium as unconfirmed and test an upload before you build a batch around it. Full Width and Large are consistent: a 2:1 clip at 1,280 x 640 is within both ranges.
How do I cut and silence the clip with Sume?
Video trim cuts a [start, end) range into a new MP4. Set duration between 2 and 20 for this tile, use precision: exact so the cut is frame accurate, and set audio: drop because the tile plays silent anyway. Exact mode re-encodes with libx264 and yuv420p. It costs $0.02 per job.
If the clip is taller than the tile allows, add output with a height only. A one-sided conform keeps the aspect ratio, and the compiler rounds edges down to even values. Sending width and height together stretches the picture unless they already match the source ratio.

}'How do I check the loop and the length?
Because the tile replays automatically, the jump from the last frame to the first is visible every cycle. Pull two stills with video frames, one at 0 and one a little before the end, and compare them. An at value at or past the clip duration fails with frame_time_out_of_range, so subtract a fraction of a second from the probed duration_seconds.
Then run video inspect with frames: false and confirm duration_seconds is between 2 and 20, width and height meet the table, and has_audio is false.
