Amazon Ads Agent creative tools vs Sume for off-Amazon video

Amazon's unBoxed 2026 Ads Agent now makes TV-quality video from product pages. What it covers, and how Sume fills the TikTok, Meta and Shopify side.

Amazon's creative tools inside the Amazon Ads Agent make display ads and video for Amazon campaigns, and they are the obvious first stop for Amazon-placed holiday creative. Amazon's pages describe them for Amazon campaigns and say nothing about exporting for TikTok, Meta or your own Shopify store. For those channels Sume gives you a Format you call over HTTP and a durable media URL back, so one product still becomes the clip you upload anywhere.

What did Amazon announce at unBoxed 2026?

Amazon's own pages, read on 2026-10-01, say the following. Nothing here comes from a reseller or a news summary.

Where does Sume fit next to it?

The Amazon tools are built for campaigns that run on Amazon. A Q4 plan usually also needs a vertical clip for TikTok Shop, a Reels ad and a product-page video, and none of those is bought inside Amazon Ads. Sume's Format catalog is callable at POST /v1/formats/sume/{slug}/runs with an API key that has formats:write, and the finished clip lands on a media.sume.com URL that stays public and durable.

A product-ad Format such as sume-product-commercial can be aimed at a product still. You can read what a slug expects first with GET /v1/formats/sume/{slug}, which returns its description and an io profile with input_kind and output_kind.

curl -X POST https://api.sume.com/v1/formats/sume/sume-product-commercial/runs \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $SUME_API_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Idempotency-Key: holiday-mug-001" \
  -d '{
    "instruction": "9:16 holiday gift ad for the attached mug, warm light, one slow push-in",
    "attachments": [{ "type": "input_image", "image_url": "https://example.com/mug.jpg" }],
    "generation_spend_cap_usd": 20
  }'

What are the limits of this comparison?

  • Amazon's page does not say which video models it uses, how long the clips are or what they cost, so this post does not compare quality or price.
  • Sume does not publish into Amazon Ads. You download the clip and upload it where you buy, and Amazon's own review and approval rules still apply to whatever you upload.
  • attachments takes up to 30 images; input is a free-form object, so read the Format's description before you rely on a key name.
  • A Format run is unattended over the API. If it cannot finish, it comes back failed with unattended_blocked and you fix the input and retry with a new Idempotency-Key.
  • The Amazon pages describe a rollout. DVA+ starts to reach advertisers from late October, so check your own console before you plan around it.

What should I do this week?

Use the Amazon tools for Amazon-placed creative, since the product page data is already there. For everything else, run one Format per hero SKU, review the clips, and only then put the rest of the catalog through a bulk run. Keep the per-run cap in generation_spend_cap_usd low while you test; the platform default is $400 and a null value means $500.
