What should a packaging prompt include?

Write it like a brief to a designer, then send it to POST /v1/images with openai/gpt-image-2.5:

• The product and the pack: "a 250 g bag of single-origin coffee beans in a stand-up kraft pouch with a zip".
• The view: "front view, centered, on a plain light-gray background" for a clean concept, or a setting such as a café shelf for mood.
• The brand: its colors, a typeface feel such as "bold geometric sans-serif", and your logo as a reference.
• The space to leave: "a blank panel for the product name, no small print".
• n for up to 4 concepts per call; each completed render is billed. Set aspect_ratio yourself, because "auto" would match the logo's shape.
• quality: ChatGPT Image 2.5 runs at high when you leave it out, and Sume's page for the retiring Image 1.0 advises raising it "for finals, dense text, or packaging"; AI image with text lists the values each model takes.

Can AI keep my logo on the package?

It can use your logo, not preserve it exactly. Send the logo, and a photo of your current pack if you have one, in input_references as public HTTPS URLs, and say in the prompt which image is which by describing what each one shows; AI mockup generator API explains why, and how to place a finished design on a product photo.

The model redraws everything, the logo included, so letterforms and proportions can shift. Judge the concept from the render and put the real logo file on the print artwork.

Can I design a product label with AI?

Yes, the same way: ask for the label flat and front-on, at the label's shape, with blank areas for the product name and the required text. ChatGPT Image 2.5 takes custom sizes from 3:1 wide to 1:3 tall, so even a wide wrap-around label can be generated at its shape. Reduce your label's width and height to a ratio, then send the largest size in that shape as image_size:

What are the limits?

• Concepts, not print files. The output is a flat PNG, JPEG, or WebP: no model lists svg today, so a request for it is refused with 400 invalid_request, and the file has no dieline, bleed, or layers.
• Small print isn't reliable. Ingredient lists, nutrition panels, barcodes, and legal lines need exact characters, so set them in your design tool and follow your printer's specs and the labeling rules where you sell.
• Each completed render is billed, and a failed one is not. ChatGPT Image 2.5 estimates each request's price from its size and quality, and usage.cost in the response is the USD amount billed.
• High quality and a large n are two of the slow settings most likely to return 202 with a job instead of the images. Poll the job's status until it is terminal, then read its result.
• Results are Sume-hosted, signed URLs, so download the concepts you keep.
