Small images are most of the volume in many catalogs: thumbnails, tiles, social cards. Black Forest Labs lists FLUX 3 Image at $0.041 for the 768sq tier (768 by 768 pixels), against $0.048 at 1k, $0.100 at 2k and $0.607 at 4k (read 2026-10-03). The 768sq tier is the one to look at when a thousand images is the unit.

FLUX 3 is not in Sume's catalog. Sume's FLUX family is FLUX.2: FLUX.2 Pro has a provider list of $0.03 per image, so $0.0375 on Sume after the 1.25 multiplier. The two are different models and different generations, so this is a price comparison.

A thousand thumbnails

1,000 images at $0.041 is $41.00. 1,000 images at $0.0375 is $37.50. The difference is $3.50, or about 9 percent in Sume's favor on this one comparison. At 10,000 thumbnails it is $35.

Move up a size and the picture changes. FLUX 3 at 1k is $0.048, so a thousand costs $48, and at 2k it is $100. Sume's rate table has one flat figure for FLUX.2 Pro, $0.0375 per image, so it does not step up with size the way the BFL tiers do; check the Image API docs for the sizes the endpoint accepts.

FLUX 3 Image 768sq (BFL)$0.041$41.00
FLUX 3 Image 1k (BFL)$0.048$48.00
FLUX 3 Image 2k (BFL)$0.100$100.00
FLUX.2 Pro (Sume)$0.0375$37.50

How to read this

At the thumbnail tier the two prices are within a few percent of each other, so the decision is about the model and the surrounding workflow rather than price. If you only need FLUX 3 itself, you will buy it from BFL. If you want your thumbnails, the descriptions, and the video built from them in the same wallet, FLUX.2 Pro on Sume at $0.0375 is the same order of cost.

Estimate in code before a big run.

tiers = {'flux 3 768sq': 0.041, 'flux 3 1k': 0.048, 'flux 3 2k': 0.100, 'flux.2 pro (sume)': 0.0375}
count = 1000
for name, price in tiers.items():
    print(f'{name}: ${price * count:,.2f} for {count} images')
